The aims and objectives for the microsurgery course are:
- To highlight the factors that need to be addressed when planning an apicectomy
- To discuss the different treatment steps involved when providing an apicectomy
- To allow the students to gain practical experience of the practical steps of an apicectomy using simulated models (flap incisions, flap elevation, osteotomy, root end resection, retro-preparation or foot, retro-filling of root, suturing)
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Understand clinical factors which need to be assessed when planning an apicectomy
- Understand the procedural steps performed during an apicectomy
- Apply knowledge of apicectomy procedural steps to the completion of an apicectomy in simulated jaws and teeth
