For many clinicians, endodontics can feel intimidating. For Reshma, it was exactly that fear that inspired her to pursue further education and ultimately complete an MSc in Endodontics with simplyendo®.

Reshma works as a private practitioner in a clinic specialising in the treatment of nervous and anxious patients, including those requiring dental treatment under sedation. Alongside providing general dentistry, one of the most rewarding aspects of her role is helping patients overcome dental anxiety and build confidence throughout their treatment journey.

Supporting patients through fear and uncertainty has become a particularly fulfilling part of her work. Many of her patients progress from believing they need sedation for every appointment to confidently accepting comprehensive treatment plans, including root canal treatment, without hesitation.

Before joining simplyendo®, Reshma completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Studies with King’s College London. Despite her academic background, she recognised that endodontics was an area where she lacked confidence clinically.

Her journey into endodontics began because she wanted to overcome that fear. Like many practitioners, she understood the importance of providing endodontic care for her patients but did not feel fully confident carrying out even routine treatments. She wanted a deeper understanding of the clinical management of endodontics, supported by evidence-based learning and practical hands-on training, which ultimately led her to simplyendo®.

What attracted Reshma most to the programme was its structure and strong emphasis on practical learning. From the outset, she felt supported by the tutors and valued how approachable, encouraging, and invested they were throughout the course. Even the regular journeys from St Albans to Formby became something she genuinely looked forward to.

As the programme progressed, Reshma quickly began implementing the techniques and knowledge she was learning into her everyday practice. Almost immediately, she noticed herself becoming more comfortable, confident, and relaxed when carrying out endodontic treatment.

One of the aspects she valued most about the programme was the opportunity to meet like-minded colleagues, share experiences, and learn from one another. The sense of support and encouragement from both tutors and peers became an invaluable part of the experience.

While Reshma would not necessarily describe herself as passionate about endodontics, she now feels significantly happier and more confident carrying out treatment. Importantly, the programme also strengthened her clinical judgement and gave her the confidence to recognise when referral to a specialist endodontist is in the best interests of her patients.

Her journey through the MSc programme was not without challenges. Alongside balancing work and study, she navigated significant personal milestones and difficulties throughout the course.
