Postgraduate Programmes in Endodontology - an overview

This part of our site provides information on our Postgraduate Programmes in Endodontology run as a collaborative partnership between simplyendo and The University of Chester, who validate our Postgraduate programmes.

The MSc in Endodontology programme is run as a collaborative partnership between simplyendo and The University of Chester (who validate the programme) and has been running very successfully for a number of years. With the option to exit with a Postgraduate Certificate (after year one) or Postgraduate Diploma (after year two) or a full MSc (after year three), we believe that our postgraduate programmes offer a high level of flexibility for the busy dentist.

With the option to take breaks in your studies with us, our programmes offer a great way to achieve a very worthwhile qualification whilst continuing with your day to day practice.

Additionally with very small teaching groups, you can expect very focussed teaching from our highly experienced and unique team of dentists, who are all both practising endodontic clinicians and teachers of endodontics at the appropriate level.

Year 1 of MSc Endodontology programme, Postgraduate Certificate equivalence

Our next MSc programme in Endodontology, run as a collaborative partnership between simplyendo and The University of Chester (who validate the programme) will start shortly and applications for this programme are now invited. With very small teaching groups, you can expect very focussed teaching from our highly experienced team.

Based around our core 10 day endodontic programme, which it runs in tandem with, Year 1 of the programme adds in an extra 6 days of attendance to allow us to validate and accredit your training. The programme has been designed to fit in with the work schedule of busy dentists and attendance at our teaching venues is limited to just two consecutive days per month over the programme up to a maximum of 16 days on-campus study.

Successful completion of Year 1 is an entry requirement for Year 2 of the programme (PG Diploma equivalence) and subsequently onto a full Masters degree in Endodontology. Alternatively, on successful completion of Year 1, you may elect to exit the programme and would be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontology.

Your investment for Year 1 of the MSc Endodontology programme, Postgraduate Certificate equivalence

The fees for Year 1 which include all course materials, university fees and VAT is £3500 plus the fee for the 10 day programme which is £4450 at Altrincham (price is slightly higher at our Letchworth venue). So if you were to do the 10 day programme in Altrincham, and carry on with the extra 6 days to complete Year 1, the total fee would be £7950. You could then choose to exit the programme here with a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontology OR carry on with Year 2 of the programme.

Easy payment options. To secure your place on the programme, we would require a deposit at the time of application of £950 with the balance payable by regular monthly payments over the duration of the programme.

Year 2 of MSc Endodontology programme, Postgraduate Diploma equivalence

Year 2 of the MSc Endodontology programme will start next Autumn and applications for this programme are now invited. With very small teaching groups, you can expect very focussed teaching from our highly experienced team.

This programme is divided into three modules,

  • Innovations in Endodontics,
  • Research methods and Statistics
  • Endodontic Microscopy.

The programme has been designed to fit in with the work schedule of busy dentists and attendance at our teaching venues is limited to just two consecutive days per month over the programme up to a maximum of 12 days on campus study. The Research methods and Statistics module will be taught as an e-learning module and will require only 1-2 days of attendance on campus with the majority of the teaching being delivered via the University intranet.

Successful completion of Year 2 is an entry requirement for Year 3 (Dissertation module) of the Masters degree in Endodontology. Alternatively, on successful completion of Year 2, you may elect to exit the programme and would be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontology.

Places on this programme will be more limited than on Year 1, so please contact Louise, our programme administrator, as soon as possible for further details on the programme.

Your investment for Year 2 of the MSc Endodontology programme, Postgraduate Diploma equivalence

The fee for Year 2 which includes all course materials, university fees and VAT is £5950 (there is an additional fee of £425 for the online research module which is paid direct to The University normally during the Spring). On completion of Year 2, you could then choose to exit the programme with a Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontology OR carry on with Year 3 of the programme.

Easy payment options. To secure your place on Year 2 of the programme, we would normally require a deposit of £450 at the time of application and then by regular monthly payments over the duration of the programme.

Year 3 of MSc Endodontology programme, the dissertation year

For those students who have successfully completed Years 1 and 2 of the programme, submission of a satisfactory dissertation would now complete a Masters degree in Endodontology.

The final component of the programme (the dissertation) will take approximately 12 months to complete and you will be assigned a supervisor who will provide you with guidance through this final year. Whilst there will be the need for direct meetings with your supervisor occasionally, there would not normally be any on-campus attendance required.

Successful completion of the dissertation will lead to the award of a Masters (MSc) in Endodontology.

Your investment for Year 3 of the MSc Endodontology programme, the dissertation year

The fee for Year 3 which includes all supervisor time, university fees and VAT is £3500.

Easy payment options. To secure your place on Year 3 of the programme, we would normally require a deposit of £500 at the time of application and then by regular monthly payments over the duration of the programme
